Organisational Development Partner - Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership
Background
Prospect were appointed to work with leaders, teams and staff working in Greater Manchester’s Population Health , Social Care and Primary Care Commissioning Directorate within GMHSCP. As an OD partner, Prospect have been supporting these teams for over three years. The teams have a range of complex relationships across the health and care system in Greater Manchester.
Activity
We worked closely with the senior team to identify the aims and goals of the OD work, and completed an engagement and diagnostic phase through interviews and focus groups with a cross section of staff. The resulting OD programme included the following
Directorate Senior Management Team development programme – a six month programme to take the team through a team journey to enhance team structure, processes and interpersonal aspects that are critical in developing high performing teams. This included developing a bespoke Change Model for system leadership and transformation, and values and behaviours statements.
Senior Team Development for the Population Health Management team. Work included team development and strategic planning
Facilitating a high level Target Operating Model for the Population Health system
Team development and coaching programme for the Population Health Management team, and also away days for the entire staff to share best practice, identify opportunities and plan future work and approaches. One to one coaching sessions were delivered for individuals and also 360 appraisal feedback was conducted using the NHS Healthcare Leadership framework
Whole directorate away days twice a year (90 staff). We co-created the days with the staff forum to ensure we listened carefully to staff priorities and designed days that addressed these together. A series of away days which looked at 21st Century Public Leader, resilience, values and behaviours, forward strategy, change, climate change. Working with external speakers and using creative and artistic approaches, the away days were fundamentally about authentic staff engagement and inclusion to support the achievement of goals of the directorate, through an engaged workforce.
Specific workshop facilitation, for example, we facilitated a day to review the programme of evaluation work for Greater Manchester’s range of Population Health Programmes, working with academics, practitioners, clinicians and other stakeholders across the GM system.
Results
Completed activities have evaluated strongly, with over 90% good/excellent scores on a number of measures including impact, our facilitation approach and achievement of objectives.
We have received feedback that we are a trusted OD partner with an ability to help navigate complex and often political contexts and bring creativity and energy.
